C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid gives you the option of plugging in for a recharge or not. C-MAX Energi combines a lithium-ion battery and electric motor with a gasoline engine. The plug-in capability allows you to fully charge the vehicle in about 2.5 hours*, using the available 240-volt home charging option, or overnight, with the standard 120-volt convenience cord. EV Mode lets you choose electric only, gasoline only, or a combination of gas and electric.
Best-in-Class Horsepower
The combined energy of a dynamic electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery and the 2.0L Atkinson-cycle I-4 gas engine propels C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi. C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi deliver best-in-class* 188 combined horsepower, but in all-electric mode, both are capable of a top speed of up to 85 mph. And power-split hybrid architecture allows the battery and gasoline-powered engine to work together using the motor and generator.

C-MAX Energi drivers can also access charge settings, charge port light ring settings and navigation screens (if equipped), including the charge station locator.

It features power-split hybrid architecture, which allows the lithium-ion battery and gasoline-powered engine to work together or separately using the motor and generator. SmartGauge® with EcoGuide and Brake Coach provide real-time information about your driving performance. Even slowing down in C-MAX Hybrid is efficient, thanks to regenerative braking, which recovers more than 94 percent of this energy and sends it back to the battery to be stored for later use*.

The main difference between C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi is the plug-in capability. C-MAX Energi has an external charge port and a larger lithium-ion battery than the lithium-ion battery in C-MAX Hybrid, for an all-electric driving experience. They can seat up to five, provide a load surface with the second-row seats folded, and can accommodate tablets, laptops and other small items in the second-row in-floor storage compartments. Need to open the liftgate, but your hands are full? No problem. Just kick your foot underneath the bumper of the available hands-free, foot-activated liftgate. To help keep you and your front-seat passenger comfortable, there are available heated front seats with dual-zone automatic temperature control that let each of you set your desired temperature.
